The C40 Recharge uses the same drivetrain as Volvo’s XC40, so it’s not an entirely all-new vehicle. But it is Volvo’s first car engineered as an EV from the very first computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) briefs. Test-Driving Volvo’s 2022 Electric C40 Recharge Volvo plans to release a fully electric car each year starting with the EX90 this year and sell only fully electric cars by 2030, as a part of its previously-announced ambition to be a climate-neutral company by 2040.
